YRC Worldwide became the fourth less-than-truckload carrier this month to set a general rate increase of an average 6.9%.
The increase will cover non-contractual shipments in the U.S., Canada and Mexico, but will vary by lane and shipment type, YRC said in a statement.
The rate hike will take effect Aug. 1, 2011, and apply to minimum charge, LTL rates and accessorial charges. Domestic Canada rates will remain unchanged, YRC said.
LTL competitors UPS Freight, ABF Freight System and Con-way Freight all set 6.9% increases earlier this month.
YRC, which said late last week it expects to be profitable in the second half of 2011, is ranked No. 4 on the Transport Topics 100 listing of U.S. and Canadian for-hire carriers.
