TravelCenters of America said Friday its fourth-quarter loss declined from a year ago.

The truck stop chain lost $30 million, or $1.71 per share, compared with a loss of $44.6 million, or $2.65, a year ago.

Revenue rose to $1.6 billion, from $1.3 billion a year ago, TA said in a statement. Same-site fuel sales rose 2.3% from a year ago.

For the year, TA lost $65.6 million, or $3.78 per share, down from a loss of $90 million, or $5.38, in 2009.

The company said its nonfuel sales rose in the fourth quarter compared with a year ago, due to increased trucking activity, and that its earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization increased $16 million from a year earlier.
