Michelin Latest Maker to Raise Truck Tire Prices

Michelin North America is increasing prices on passenger car, light truck and commercial truck replacement tires sold in the United States.

Truck tire and retread prices will increase Dec. 1 on Michelin, BFGoodrich and Michelin Retread Technologies (MRT) brands by an average of 8 percent, according to published reports. Increases will vary by product line.

Yokohama recently announced it’s increasing prices on commercial tires by up to 6 percent effective Jan. 1.

Commercial tires went up Nov. 1 at other manufacturers, including Bridgestone/Firestone, Falken, Toyo, Kumho, Hankook and Cooper. In October, Goodyear hiked its truck tire prices. Increases ranged from 6 percent to 8 percent.

Manufacturers are blaming increased costs for energy, transportation and raw materials for the increases.
