J.B. Hunt’s Third-Quarter Income Rises 32%

J.B. Hunt Transport Services’ third-quarter net income rose 32% to $68.7 million, or 57 cents per share, from $52.2 million, or 41 cents, a year ago.

The trucking, logistics and intermodal company’s revenue rose 19% to $1.17 billion, J.B. Hunt said late Thursday.

Operating income rose 30% to $119 million, led by its intermodal segment, which accounted for $18 million.

Its trucking, dedicated contract services and integrated capacity solutions units combined to add about $9 million.

Truck segment operating income rose 4% to $6.8 million, while revenue rose 2% to $127 million.

Intermodal operating income jumped 30% to $78.4 million, while revenue rose 24% to $691 million.

J.B. Hunt is ranked No. 5 on the Transport Topics 100 listing of U.S. and Canadian for-hire carriers.
