Supporters of a national network of natural gas fueling stations for motor carriers have invested an additional $150 million in the project, Clean Energy Fuels Corp. said Thursday.

Investor T. Boone Pickens, the largest shareholder in Clean Energy, made the investment by exercising warrants to purchase 15 million shares for $10 each.

Clean Energy is developing a network of 150 natural gas fueling stations for vehicles powered by compressed natural gas and liquefied natural gas for long-haul, regional and port truckers.

With the latest investment, Clean Energy now has committed $450 million this year to the effort.
